Terms & Conditions

Last updated: April 2025

These General Terms and Conditions are compiled in accordance with the Consumer Protection Act (ZVPot) and the Personal Data Protection Act (ZVOP) and apply to all relationships established with RentGo (hereinafter "RentGo") in connection with its core business and the contracting party (hereinafter the "Renter"). These terms are an integral part of the rental agreement between the parties. RentGo and the Renter confirm their validity by signing the rental agreement and declare they are fully aware of and accept the contents of these terms.

1. Initial Terms

Any violation of these General Terms and Conditions by either party constitutes a simultaneous breach of the rental agreement and entitles the other party to immediately withdraw from the contract and assert a claim for compensation. The rental agreement is territorially limited to the European Union. The Renter undertakes not to drive or use the rented vehicle outside the borders of the European Union. Driving outside the EU is possible only with prior written agreement between the parties. The term "vehicle" or "motor vehicle" means a personal, cargo, or any other vehicle rented and delivered to the Renter for an agreed period. The term "damage" means any damage caused on or in the vehicle (including windows, headlights, mirrors, etc.).

2. Driving and Use of the Vehicle

The vehicle rented under a contract, of which these terms are an integral part, may be driven or operated by:

  • Persons over 21 who have held a valid driving licence for at least 2 years.
  • Persons listed in the rental agreement as authorised to drive the vehicle.

The vehicle may not be used:

  • To participate in automobile, sport, or other competitions and vehicle tests.
  • For paid transportation of passengers or goods (e.g. taxi service).
  • To push or tow any vehicle or object; for driving school activity.
  • To carry a greater number of passengers than stated in the vehicle registration.
  • To transport flammable, toxic, or other dangerous substances and bulk goods.
  • To commit a crime or other offence prosecuted ex officio.
  • For further subletting or rental to a third party.
  • When the vehicle is not in roadworthy condition and the Renter is aware of this.
  • By persons under the influence of alcohol, illegal drugs, or substances affecting driving ability.
  • When driving off roads in categories I, II, and III.
  • In contrary to the traffic regulations of the country where the vehicle is located.
  • In contrary to the purpose of use described in the rental agreement.

Smoking in the rented vehicle is strictly forbidden! In the event of non-compliance, the Renter will be charged a chemical cleaning fee per the current price list plus potential costs of interior damage. The Renter is obliged to lock the rented vehicle after every use.

3. Reservations, Deposit and Payments

Prices published on the RentGo website at the time of renting the vehicle shall apply. Renting may be subject to prior booking. Upon booking, a percentage of the rental value must be paid, depending on prior agreement. In the event of cancellation or early return, RentGo retains the full reservation amount to cover the loss of income.

The Renter is obliged to pay a deposit when collecting the vehicle. The deposit covers any damage from this contractual relationship and additional rental days or extra kilometres. The deposit amount ranges from €250.00 to €2,500.00. If the Renter pays for additional insurance per the current price list, the deposit amount is reduced accordingly.

If the Renter returns the vehicle in perfect condition, the deposit will be refunded in the same manner it was paid. Banks typically require 7–14 business days for credit card holds and up to 30 business days for debit cards. If damage exceeds the deposit, the Renter undertakes to pay the difference immediately. The rental price must be paid upon signing the rental agreement. If a payment deferral is agreed, the deadline is 8 days after vehicle return. Late payment will incur statutory interest and costs.

The Renter is responsible for all payments, penalties, and fines addressed to RentGo during the rental period. The Renter acknowledges that their personal data may be forwarded to police and other competent authorities upon request.

4. Delivery and Return of the Vehicle

The Renter collects the vehicle at the agreed location after fulfilling all conditions and signing the rental agreement. The Renter is authorised to operate the vehicle; the agreement may additionally authorise a maximum of one other person. By signing, the Renter agrees that RentGo may retain a copy of the Renter's driving licence and ID document.

The rented vehicle is at all times the property of RentGo. The vehicle is handed over in perfect condition with all legally required equipment and an appropriate spare tyre or tyre repair kit. A mandatory winter fee of €3/day (maximum €30/rental) applies between 15 November and 15 March. The winter package includes winter tyres, an ice scraper, and windscreen antifreeze fluid.

The Vehicle Condition Report is an integral part of the rental agreement. If the Renter notices pre-existing damage before first use, they must immediately notify RentGo, otherwise the vehicle is deemed issued in the condition described in the report. All vehicle documents are handed over at pickup. Vehicle documents must not be left in a parked vehicle!

The Renter must return the vehicle on the date the rental contract expires, at the time and location specified in the agreement. The minimum rental period is 1 day (24 hours). If the Renter exceeds the agreed period by more than 60 minutes, an extra day of rental will be charged. The Renter must return the vehicle in the same condition as received, normal wear and tear excepted. The vehicle is handed over clean inside and out; if returned dirty, cleaning costs will be charged per the current price list (€15.00–€250.00). The Renter may choose an additional cleaning option at €10/rental.

The rental ends after the vehicle is inspected by a RentGo representative and the vehicle, keys, and documents are returned. The Renter remains responsible for the vehicle's condition until the rental period ends, even if not present at inspection. The Renter's liability ends when the vehicle is inspected by a RentGo representative.

5. Extension of the Rental

The Renter has the right to extend the rental no later than 24 hours before the agreed deadline in the contract. Extension with less than 24 hours' notice is only possible with an explicit agreement with RentGo.

6. Fuel and Mileage Policy

The cost of fuel is not included in the rental price. A RentGo representative and the Renter will check the fuel level together before handover. At the end of the rental, the Renter must return the vehicle with the same level of the correct fuel type as at pickup. If returned with less fuel, the Renter will be charged for the missing fuel (at current rates) plus an administrative fee of €10.00.

The rental price includes unlimited mileage. If the Renter fills the tank with the wrong fuel, an administrative fee of €50.00 plus repair costs will be charged. Any interference with the odometer is strictly prohibited! In the event of tampering, a flat rate of 500 km/day will be charged for each day of rental. In the event of odometer failure, the Renter must immediately notify RentGo.

7. Breakdowns and Maintenance

The Renter must take good care of the vehicle (periodic checks of oil, water, tyre pressure, brake fluid, etc.) and immediately notify RentGo of any breakdowns, acting in accordance with RentGo's instructions. The Renter may order repairs up to €20.00 to ensure proper operation. All major repairs require RentGo's explicit consent. Repairs or replacement of parts may only be carried out by an authorised service centre. RentGo reimburses repair costs unless the Renter is liable for the damage. RentGo does not cover costs incurred without prior authorisation, outside authorised service centres, or without proof of payment.

RentGo is committed to providing roadside assistance as soon as possible and replacing the vehicle where necessary, unless the Renter used the vehicle in breach of these terms. Any roadside assistance call not resulting from a vehicle fault will incur an administrative fee of €50.00 plus towing costs of €50.00–€150.00. Roadside assistance resulting from a vehicle fault is charged at €50.00–€100.00. The Renter may choose an additional roadside assistance option at €10/rental.

8. Accidents

In the event of an accident, the Renter must protect the interests of RentGo and its insurer, and immediately inform RentGo. The Renter must provide a written statement with a sketch of the accident and complete the "European Accident Report". The Renter must note the names and addresses of all parties and witnesses, not leave the scene, protect the vehicle until secured, call the police, wait for their arrival, and obtain a copy of the official report. Failure to comply with these obligations makes the Renter liable for all resulting damage and lost profits.

9. Theft and Fire

The Renter is responsible for damage caused by fire or theft of the vehicle unless third-party liability is proven. Third-party liability is established when the insurance company confirms and covers the full damage. The Renter must immediately report theft or fire to the police or other competent authorities and notify RentGo without delay. Failure to notify RentGo makes the Renter personally liable for all resulting damage.

10. Insurance and Liability of the Renter

Vehicles are insured in accordance with applicable Slovenian regulations and the general terms of the insurer. Notwithstanding the vehicle's insurance, the Renter is obliged to reimburse RentGo for any damage in the following cases:

  • Damage to the vehicle interior, wipers, radio antenna, and other accessories (e.g. mirrors).
  • Damage to the vehicle's undercarriage, tyres, and wheels.
  • Damage caused while driving under the influence of alcohol, illegal drugs, or medications.
  • Damage caused intentionally or through negligence.
  • The Renter fleeing the scene of an accident or breaching their obligations.
  • Damage occurring when the Renter did not hold a valid driving licence.
  • Damage resulting from non-compliance with Article 2 of these terms.
  • Damage caused by driving on a flooded road.
  • In other cases excluded from insurance coverage.

RentGo reserves the right to investigate any damage identified within 7 (seven) working days after the end of the rental period and to notify and charge the Renter. The Renter must cover any difference between the damage amount and the maximum insurance coverage.

In the event of vehicle damage or a traffic accident, the Renter is charged:

  • Mini group (Škoda Citigo or similar) – up to €800.00
  • Economy group (Opel Corsa or similar) – up to €1,000.00
  • Compact group (VW Golf or similar) – up to €1,500.00
  • Intermediate group (Opel Astra or similar) – up to €1,800.00
  • Economy SUV group (Renault Captur or similar) – up to €2,000.00
  • SUV group (VW Tiguan or similar) – up to €2,500.00
  • Business group (VW Passat or similar) – up to €2,500.00
  • Full size group (Opel Vivaro, Opel Zafira or similar) – up to €2,500.00

The Renter may reduce their liability by choosing additional insurance (SCDW – Super Collision Damage Waiver) or "Premium Insurance" — a rental with no Renter liability for newly incurred damage. "Extra" insurance covers the entire vehicle body. "Premium" insurance covers the entire body, headlights, rims, windows, and tyres. Additional insurance does not cover interior damage, incorrect refuelling, or damage to or loss of keys. In all cases of new damage, even with additional insurance, administrative costs of up to €50.00 apply. In the event of theft, the Renter must present the car key; failure to do so makes the Renter personally liable for the full retail value of the stolen vehicle.

11. Liability Claims

RentGo is not responsible for the Renter's property, or that of any other person, left in or on the rented vehicle. By signing the rental agreement, the Renter explicitly waives any claims arising under this article.

12. Protection of Personal Data

By signing the rental agreement, the Renter authorises RentGo to:

  • Use personal data to fulfil contractual obligations and enforce rights arising from the contractual relationship.
  • Forward personal data in the event of failure to comply with contractual obligations.
  • Retain personal data for 5 (five) years.

By signing the rental agreement, the Renter agrees to the GDPR directive on the handling of personal data.

13. Other Terms

The Renter is responsible for all additional equipment listed in the rental agreement and/or Vehicle Condition Report and its proper functioning. RentGo may demand reimbursement for damage to the equipment during the rental period. In the event of theft or total destruction of equipment, RentGo may demand reimbursement of its full value.

The rented vehicle may have a tracking device installed. RentGo may charge fees per the current price list for any additional foreseeable or unforeseeable costs related to the rental or arising after vehicle return (accidents, theft, roadside assistance, traffic violations, etc.). In the event of a traffic infraction (speeding, illegal parking, etc.) that requires RentGo to forward the Renter's details to the relevant authority, RentGo may charge an administrative fee of up to €50.00 per infraction.

14. Dispute Resolution

Disputes arising in connection with the rental agreement will be resolved amicably; failing that, the dispute will be referred to the competent court in Ljubljana.

15. Final Terms

The rental agreement is printed and signed in duplicate. The Renter receives one signed copy and RentGo retains the second. The rental agreement enters into force when signed by both parties.
